Walter Payton and sports artist Andrew Goralski produced this art project under a special partnership arrangement. Walter and Andy formed a publishing company titled Payton/Goralski Press.
Goralski worked closely with Payton’s exclusive management team under the direction of Ginny Quirk. Ginny facilitated the marketing and promotion of both Payton/Goralski Press and Walter Payton Inc. Since the passing of Walter, Andy and Ginny have maintained contact over the years.
Payton and Goralski pored over hundreds of photographs. Video footage of Walter was also considered before the paintings were produced. Upon completing the research for the paintings, Goralski submitted drafts to Walter and Ginny for final approval.
The art project commemorates Payton’s incredible career. The edition was produced from two separate original paintings. Both paintings comprise the ” Walter Payton Hall of Fame Collection”. One original depicts a three image action portrait showcasing Walters versatility as a player. 1993 “action” prints along with 190 artist proofs were produced.
As part of the collection, Payton/Goralski Press also produced an original portrait showcasing Walter in an intense pose. The painting is titled “Sweetness”. 340 Sweetness prints along with 34 artist proofs, and a 50 piece Remarque edition were autographed by Payton. Goralski personally witnessed the autograph signing session.
